Welcome to one of Chetnanigans’ newest creations, The African Flower Blocker! Holly was creating some of these in various shapes and when we went looking for a blocking solution. To our surprise, there were no good solutions available on the internet. That made Holly’s creative juices start to flow! She came up with a design that is compact, easy to use and a perfect solution to blocking African Flower projects!
The African Flower EZ Blocker measures 7″ x 7″ and is made in 1/2″ red oak. Like all of Chetnanigans’ blockers, it is finished in a minimum of 3 coats of polyurethane to a glass like finish to assure many years of great performance. The African Flower EZ Blocker is a bit different from our other blockers in that you can block Hexagons, Pentagons or 6 triangle on the same board! The rule of thumb on this item is that all significant points are 3″ apart from each other, with 1″ increments for blocking (each hole in the pictures are 1″ apart from the next). This allows you to make 3″ Hexagons, Pentagons or triangles for tying together later in your overall beautiful project!
Some key features of the African Flower EZ Blocker are new as well! As with all of our blocker products, the bottom is felt lined to assure a smooth contact between your working surface and the bottom of your blocking board. And finally, the African Flower EZ Blocker comes with 18 small, stainless steel pins at 6″ each to make sure that you have plenty of room to block your project!
Chetnanigans has transitioned to stainless steel pins for all of our blocking boards! They are stronger than our original design, and are still 55% smaller than the 1/4″ dowels that many of our competitors use! Finally they has a beautifully rounded end so that it won’t snag on your yarn, and fits into, and out of the holes perfectly!
