Making Broomstick Lace is art, fun and skills, all rolled into one event! And as much as you enjoy the final results of your efforts, the process of pulling loops off of the pin in certain quantities and at certain times can sometimes be daunting. However, those days might just be over for you! Chetnanigans is introducing “The Groove” Broomstick Lace Pin!.
The brainstorm of one of our Canadian customers, she reach out and talked to us about what would make her life easier when broomsticking. She explained that a groove along the length, at the top of the pin would allow her to place her hook under the loops and pull off only what she wanted! A Genius of an idea we thought! Over the next few weeks, we attempted to create this item several times but met with some challenges each time. Finally, through a series of trial and error, we found a process that works and can be repeated making The Groove one of our newest Chetnanigans Listings!
Just like our original Broomstick Lace Pin, The Groove is constructed using a Red Oak dowel, and is balanced to provide the ideal weight you need to stabilize your work as you crochet — both casting it on and crocheting it off. The pin is exceptionally smooth and solid so there are no worries about snagging. The weighted wooden ball at the end is a perfect counter-balance to the weight of the pin and works great when casting on and off. The 1″ diameter is equivalent to the size 50 knitting needle, the most often used solution for broomsticking. The 13″ length gives you more room for working afghans in broomstick!
So if you’re tired of fighting a fighting the pulling of loop from a smooth pin, give our new “The Groove” Broomstick Lace Pin / Tool a try! We’re convinced that you’ll never go back! Made, as always, with the finest craftsmanship in our little wood shop in Midlothian, Virginia!
